Self-Edit CMS

ADD-ON

Self-Edit CMS

A self-edit content management system that lets you update copy, images, services, and FAQs through a forms-based admin UI — no code, no calling DP. Built on Decap CMS, git-backed with versioned commits, and scoped to fields we explicitly make editable. Tier-scaled pricing.

Self-Edit CMS gives you a forms-based admin UI for the specific content fields you need to update — no code, no calling us. Which fields become editable is customized to your business: common picks are hero copy, services, testimonials, hours, FAQs, blog posts, and project galleries, but the editable schema is built around your actual content workflow, not a fixed template. Pricing tiers below define the typical scope per build tier — but the exact fields are scoped during discovery and locked in your Statement of Work.

It’s built on Decap CMS (formerly Netlify CMS), git-backed (every edit commits straight to your repo with full version history), and designed for our exact Astro + Netlify + GitHub stack. Anyone who uses Gmail can use it; train an assistant or VA in 20 minutes.

Frequently asked

Can the editable fields be customized to my specific needs?
Yes — that's the design intent. The tier breakdowns above (Spark, Current, Surge) describe DP's standard editable scope per build tier, but the actual field set is customized to your business during discovery. If you need to edit financing options, certification badges, service-area pages, or a custom field nobody else in your industry has, we build the editable schema around it. The pricing floor reflects DP's standard schema; the ceiling reflects client-specific customization. Final scope locks in your Statement of Work.
What can't I edit through the CMS?
The CMS handles content, not infrastructure or design. Page count, site structure, navigation hierarchy, layout, colors, fonts, form logic, lead routing, schema templates, and analytics config all stay with DP (retainer or project work). The principle is "you can't break the site" — the CMS only surfaces fields we explicitly make editable. Worst case is a typo, fixed in 30 seconds.
Is it secure?
Yes. Invite-only signup (no public account creation), Netlify Identity password enforcement, 2FA recommended for every CMS user, and per-user audit log (every edit is a git commit with author + timestamp). The CMS UI is also gated behind Netlify Identity — unauthenticated visitors get a login prompt at /admin and can't see anything beyond it.
When does the CMS pay for itself?
If you'll update your site more than 4 times a year, the CMS pays for itself in year one — either against the 2-updates-per-month Maintenance retainer allowance ($175/mo includes 2 updates; updates above that bill at $125/hr) or against per-change billing. After that it's pure leverage. If you'll update less than 4 times a year, the Maintenance retainer is cheaper.
