Hosting is the only required add-on with every Dynamic Promotion build. We don’t separate it from the build because we don’t separate it operationally — the same pipeline that ships your site also runs SSL renewal and edge cache invalidation. The $20/mo simply covers the cost of running that infrastructure, with no profit margin hiding inside it.

Why is hosting mandatory when DP builds my site?
We operate the build pipeline — git push triggers a Netlify build that runs your Astro code, validates schema, and deploys to the edge. If you brought your own host, we'd lose that pipeline (no preview deploys, no automated build validation, no automatic SSL). The $20/mo covers that operational infrastructure, not just bandwidth.
What does the $20 actually cover?
It's roughly pass-through of Netlify's hosting costs plus a small operational margin for running the build pipeline. There's no markup intended to fund development work — those costs sit in the one-time build price. We share the underlying Netlify invoice with clients on request, and the line items move with whatever Netlify's current credit-based pricing looks like.
Can I bring my own host (Vercel, Cloudflare Pages, self-hosted)?
Not while we run the build pipeline. If you want to take over hosting yourself, that's the $500 full-developer-handoff transfer (GitHub repo, credentials, walkthrough) — see the engagement terms. Most clients find the $20/mo cheaper than the engineering time to maintain their own deploy infrastructure.
